Desires of The Heart

The desires of mankind's heart rarely stray from one of three things: Money, Beauty, or Love. More often than not any particular desire involves all three. These are our vices. This being true means that it's challenging to surprise people with what you want, at least completely. Well today I was surprised.

I was at work going about my normal routine semi-observing the spastic behavior of a small girl and her small friend. They ran around giggling a lot until finally the first stopped, as though completely possessed by a new thought. She paused and proclaimed,

"I wish I smelled like strawberry shortcake!!!"

She resumed her giddiness and that was all. Nothing else seemed important enough for her to stop to say so I suppose this was of some significance to her. There are very few desires I have that I take the time inform others of and when I do I mean it. This seemed to be small girl #1 M.O. as well. I could be wrong though...

Negative 5 Stars

I have spent the last two days watching FAR too many movies! Which wouldn't bother me so much if I hadn't during this time also come to the disappointing realization that it's quite a challenge to find a really good movie. I went to the video store looking for an old favorite. Knowing that my typical rental facility didn't have it I ventured to another I was not familiar with (*strike 1). I looked around for a while determined to find it myself, but low and behold they too didn't have it (*strike 2). So I picked up a couple others, however when I went to pay I was told that it was "rent 2 get 2 free". I couldn't very well say no so I hurried around the store on what felt like a chore they'd sent me to do and randomly selected two others I that I vaguely recalled someone saying something fairly positive about sometime (*strike 3). I should have know I was out. It's a little sad to think about those wasted hours, but I'm over it. I would however like to know of some sure fire winners so as not to be disappointed next time. Oh and please no light romantic comedies, after the one I saw last night, which by the way not even Colin Firth could save, I have quite a distaste for the general storyline. I've come to the realization that I just honestly don't care if they end up together....sad but true. Carry on!

EARTHQUAKE!!!!!!!

So, good ol' sunny California is considered earthquack country and sure relatively I suppose it is, but they seem awefully rare to me. That is however until LAST NIGHT!!!! I was at work bemoaning the next hour I had to spend folding T-shirts when it hit. It was pretty cool. Nothing catastrophic (a 4.4 specifically) things shook and lights swayed all in all an exciting way to spend a few seconds. It did have a way of passing the time. I spent the rest of my shift thinking about how I surely would have died if it'd been "The Big One". The Gap really should seriously consider retrofitting.
