Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of a good movie
Happy New Year all!! 2006! where did the time go? I won't bore you with the intricate details of my past 365 days but I will say that I don't think that I would recognize the person that I was one year ago, and though there aren't really any huge things that happened I know I encountered more than a few life altering experiences. As I begin this next year all I can say is.... well the last 2 hours haven't been so bad! I will be honest, I am cautious of this year I'm worried that there may be a lot ahead of me and I am even more concerned that there isn't a lot ahead of me; I will do my best to not think too much about it and just cross those bridges as they come. Soon enough it will be 2007, I wonder exactly where I'll be one year from now....? I believe I asked myself this question last year and I'm pretty sure I'm sitting in the same chair; such is life!
Anyway, how did I bid adieu to 2005, well after waiting with bated breath for a rugged knight in shinning armor to save me from a certain watery demise, and then being just a tad bit disappointed when Mary showed up instead, I caught a movie. King Kong to be exact and all I know is that I had a blast with the people I was with. Two of my other friends and myself decided to see KK instead while the rest saw Narnia. Again it was super fun but my enjoyment had absolutley nothing to do with the movie. For one Jack Black should never play serious roles and the whole thing would have been better if they just hadn't talked, but then that might have been asking too much. I also didn't like that they called King Kong "the beast" for about the first two and a half hours of the film. They did get around to finally calling him a big gorilla but I just sorta felt like they (the filmmakers) were hoping I wouldn't notice (psst FYI I did). Then we all went back to Mary's house and played psychiatrist. I toasted in the New Year, roughly eight minutes late, with a wine glass full of Dr. Pepper! As I reflect I think it all went off fabulously. The Lord has been good to me despite of my utter undeservedness.
As an update the rain stopped mid-day and the flooding is gone, but appearently there's a great deal to expect from tomorrow. I hope that there is a great deal to expect from this entire year!!
P.S. I'm actually not a prince charming/ knight in shinning armor type of girl, but I will admit to being a sucker for uniforms. Mary was in her I'm-here-to-save-you/rescuegirlesque get up so as far as I'm concerned you have my heart Mary!
